WordFest

Though not yet officially launched, Monsterology was greeted warmly at Calgary Banff WordFest 2005. Arthur's reading of the book went very well with upwards of 400 school kids rolling in the aisles. The entire event was memorable and it was great meeting so many gifted writers.

Lots of thank-you's to hand out:
Anne Green for, well, everything;
Ian Samuels for great care and attention;
Kim Mayberry for the dance;
Amanda Peters for the hockey talk;
Pages on Kensington for the lovely bags;
McNally Robinson just because;
Lorna Crozier for saying what we were all thinking;
Sheree, Meg, Lorna, Michael, Tim, Eric and Simon for being nice to the artist;
Baba for the rap.
Barb and Malika, I hope you've found your respective Mitches.

Cheers, all!

Hurrah!

The cover artwork for Monsterology was voted "Best Black and White" at this year's show. This was the first time the original artwork was seen by the general public and everyone seemed to like it.

Westercon 58 is a Science Fiction and Fantasy Fan convention based in Los Angeles. The host city varies year to year. A cross section of this year's attending guests: publishers Tom Doherty and Brian Hades; writers Larry Niven, John Varley, Robert Sawyer and Dave Duncan; artists Roberta Gregory, Jim Beveridge and Mark Ferrari; and a diverse range of filmmakers and independents. Locus Magazine held their annual awards at WC58 this year and was present throughout the event.

Our little book stood up well against work that included video game art, digital photography, book and magazine covers and even chinese silk painting!
